From Pause to Practice Scholarship
The From Pause to Practice Scholarship is a $1,000 award created to support recent law school graduates who have chosen to prioritize their mental health by deferring the bar exam until the February administration.
After three rigorous years of legal education, some students need space to reflect, rest, and realign before stepping into the next chapter of their legal careers. This scholarship honors that decision.
Funds from this scholarship are intended to cover:
The Louisiana State Bar Exam application fee
The laptop usage fee (if applicable)
This is a one-time award designed to affirm that pausing is not quitting. it's healing, it's strength, and it's part of the journey.

Proof of Intent to Register for the February 2026 Louisiana Bar Exam

To be eligible, applicants must:
Be a Spring 2025 law school graduate
Planning to register for the February 2026 Louisiana Bar Exam
Have chosen to defer the July bar exam for reasons related to mental wellness or personal restoration
Intend to use the scholarship to help cover bar exam fees and/or associated technology fees

A small review committee will evaluate submissions based on:
Authenticity and clarity of your essay
Demonstrated commitment to mental wellness
Financial need (if applicable)
Overall alignment with the scholarship’s mission
Deadline: October 1st, 2025 @ 11:59 PM CST
Award Notification: Recipients will be notified by October 15th, 2025
